Occupational Therapy
There is an Occupational Therapist who works in the Emergency Department, as well as the Acute Medical Unit and Old Age Psychiatry in SVUH.
Physiotherapy
The physiotherapy service in the emergency department includes acute respiratory care, early rehabilitation and musculoskeletal management. Our senior physiotherapist has a keen interest in cardiac and respiratory physiotherapy and also patient and manual handling.
Social Work
There are two social workers based in the emergency department, who provide a comprehensive service and liaise on a daily basis with services in the community. The role of the medical social worker is to provide a direct service to patients and their relatives where illness, medical care and treatment are complicated by social and emotional issues.
