Research

The department has a healthy research publication record. We regularly publish in a number of high impact journals on the work performed in the emergency department and in collaboration with other disciplines and professions. A list of some of our more recent publications can be found here.

Emergency medicine has many exciting opportunities to perform and publish research. A number of our consultants and trainees have particular research interests including: sports injuries, resuscitation, pre-hospital care, clinical decision unit medicine, sepsis, paediatric emergency medicine and thromboembolic disease.

Research Opportunities
There are many opportunities for trainees. Medical students and nursing staff to become involved in research. All are encouraged to present their research at a variety of annual scientific meetings including IAEM, Faculty RCEM, Faculty of Sports & Exercise, EUSEM.

Clinical Audit

The department regularly audits its performance against a range of clinical standards. Audit is a multidisciplinary process which involves all members of staff.
