The emergency department at SVUH has a long track record of involvement in pre hospital care. Several of our consultants provide pre hospital emergency care services both in a sporting context and in support of the ambulance service.
The emergency department has strong links with UCD Centre for Emergency Medical Science and regularly hosts paramedic and advanced paramedic students on clinical placements.
There are opportunities for medical staff and students who wish to gain experience in pre hospital care to undertake clinical placements, research and audit in this area.
